If you blink 15 times a minute under normal circumstances, then you do so only five to six times while sitting before a computer monitor. The reduced rate of blinking decreases 60 percent of the oil secretion that lubricates our eyes, thus, increasing evaporation from the eye surface. Result: irritation itching and discomfort. The remedy: make a conscious effort to blink.
Follow the 20-20-20 rule. After every 20 minutes of work, look 20 feet away from the computer screen for 20 seconds. This will also give your eyes a chance to refocus.
